Blood Type & You

It was through the research of Dr. James D'Adamo that the discovery of the relationship between dietary and lifestyle requirements and blood type was first introduced to the world. Educated in the United States and the most prominent institutes and clinics in Europe, Dr. D'Adamo began his naturopathic practice with the common belief that a vegetarian diet was the correct path to achieve a healthy long life. In his clinical training, he found that patients were often treated with a standardized diet and therapy regime without consideration of the inherent physical uniqueness of each individual. Not surprisingly, he observed that patients did not all have the same response. The vegetarian diet suited some well, but others became pale, fatigued and depressed. Dr. D'Adamo was driven by the realization that there had to be a better way, a way of determining what diet and treatments were most suited to each individual person.

And so began a journey of discovery. Dr. D'Adamo sought a road map of sorts within the body that would predict which foods, exercise, supplements and therapies were right for each individual. After much thought, trial and error he drew upon his past experience as a blood technician and questioned whether something in the blood was decisive in determining the body's individual needs. Based on observations and self-reports from his thousands of patients, he recognized an emerging pattern. Over time, he documented a clear distinction between the blood types and how each responded to different foods, types of exercise and various treatments. Amazingly, he even noted common trends in how each blood type processes information, how the mind of each type interacts with the world. As he began to individualize treatments based on these observations, his clinical success improved dramatically. The road map he sought had been found!
