Therapies: Diapulse

Diapulse or diathermy treatment can be used in any circumstance where there is a need for increased circulation to any part of the body. As the temperature increase in the body is quite small, about four degrees, you feel nothing but a pleasant warm sensation. Don't be deceived, as unlike a hot water bottle, the heat of these instruments is produced in the body, not applied to it.

Also realize that as little as a two degree increase in temperature produces a two fold increase in circulation and a twenty percent increase in cell metabolism.

• These machines produce certain frequencies similar to radio waves. These waves cause increased molecular motion within the cells of the body
• This motion produces friction. Friction produces heat.
• The heat produced causes the cells of the area treated to work at a faster rate (increased metabolism).
• This produces extra circulation to the area and speeds healing.
