Oriental Medicine

Acupuncture offers a new experience that unlocks your body’s natural healing power

Treatment of symptoms and underlying causes of illness in traditional Chinese medicine can include acupuncture and medicinal Chinese herbs. Dr. Robert Medrek is trained in the fundamentals of Oriental medicine and holds expert level certification in acupuncture. The principles of Oriental medicine are incorporated into diagnosis and treatment for current patients and those exclusively seeking acupuncture services. Your acupuncture treatments will be determined by tongue and pulse diagnosis, as well as other physical and emotional indications. This unique treatment promotes physical and emotional well-being, stimulating the balance and flow of Qi, and provide relief to so many ailments. Supplemental herbs may be recommended to help expedite healing and rebalancing of the body.

 Traditional acupuncture

This ancient treatment focuses on the individual rather than their illness or isolated symptoms. Pain and illness are regarded as a sign that the body is out of balance. The aim of traditional acupuncture is to re-establish the free flow of qi, to restore balance and stimulate the body’s own self-healing resources. This is achieved by inserting ultra-thin, sterile, disposable needles into specific points which correspond with meridian channels in the body.

Auricular Acupuncture

The ear serves as an accessible and effective gateway to help heal the body. Disharmony within the body is often reflected in the ear and can be seen by the trained eye. By using very small acupuncture needles on the ear, the acupuncturist can stimulate the energy at these points, helping to address imbalances in the body. Sometimes small plasters with little gold balls or seeds are left over certain points on the ear, enabling the client to be active in their own health by stimulating these specific areas long after the treatment has concluded.

Back Shu Biolight

Traditional Chinese medicine incorporates colors in healing treatments that are associated with each organ and system in the body. The diverse tissue and cell types in the body all have their own unique light absorption characteristics: some tissues will only absorb light with specific wavelengths and not others. During this treatment, twelve points along the spine called the Back Shu are stimulated with acupuncture needles, and healing lights of varying wavelengths that address the issue at hand are used simultaneously. The importance of the Back-Shu points in treatment cannot be over-emphasized: they are particularly important for the treatment of chronic diseases and these points respond quite differently from other points.

Electro-acupuncture (E-stim)

An acupuncture enhancement which pairs acupuncture needles with a gentle electrical current to relax muscles and ease pain. E-stim is typically used for more stubborn situations when needles alone are not enough to shift the body back into balance. This is often true for chronic muscle pain and tightness. E-stim can also be safely used on people who are injured or are sensitive to more aggressive bodywork, such as massage.
